The QuadPara Association (QASA), in South Africa, was established to assist quadriplegics by providing a range of highly specialised support services that are designed to promote and encourage their rehabilitation, community integration and independence. QASA also represents the interests of its members at all levels of government, making submissions and lobbying for change on matters that affect their well-being and maximise their opportunities in life. QASA fund several self help centres around South Africa, in which members can live in an independent way with minimal assistance. QASA also run various other projects including awareness raising, skills development and capacity building, sport, rehabilitation, and provision of assistive devices.
QASA works in partnership with the Players Fund to provide opportunities for people in South African living with spinal injuries. The Players Fund specifically supports rugby players who are spinally injured on the field of play – there are currently 97 living in South Africa.

The Trust very much hopes to be able to support a rehabilitation project in the rural Mtata region of KwaZulu Natal. Currently there are is no rehabilitation facility with the result that no severely injured patient survives more than a year after discharge. (In the UK life expectancy is normal). A simple support or advice service hopes to improve this.
