Expedition Route

After travelling through France, Italy and a short ferry across the Mediterranean we will set foot onto the continent of Africa, The Republic of Tunisia and the 'Gate way to Africa'.

With Algeria to our west we will leave the capital Tunis following the coastline southeast, skirting around the mountains in the north. The semiarid land will begin to merge into the Sahara as we head south and towards Libya.

Interesting Facts

A special attraction is the unusual Matmata where the ground is pockmarked with craters and where incidentally the Star Wars movie was filmed.

Chott El Jerid, 2,000 sq. miles salt-flats as big as Kansas and offers spectacular mirages.
